ALTAGAMMA FOUNDATION TO PARTNER 2016 QUADRIENNALE FOR THE PROMOTION OF ITALIAN ART AND CULTURE.

Altagamma Foundation is corporate partner of the 16th Quadriennale art exhibition, which will be held from 13 October 2016 to 5 January 2017.

Altagamma brings together around 100 of the best “cultural and creative industry" brands in Italy. This definition was accorded to high-end businesses in 2012 by the European Commission which, recognising their key contribution to the growth of the European economy and jobs, also underlines the intrinsic connection with culture that underpins their business model and therefore their impact in defining European cultural identity.

Operating at the highest end of the market in various sectors (fashion, design, hospitality, food, jewellery, and wellness), Altagamma businesses maintain and consolidate strong ties with Italian art and culture, using it as inspiration when developing their products and services, and keeping the dialogue with the most innovative forms of art alive at all times.

According to Andrea Illy, Chairman of Altagamma Foundation, "there is an underlying theme, called Beauty, which links our businesses with the great Italian artistic tradition. It is rooted in the mixture of Nature, Culture and Manufacturing that derives from Italy’s location at the centre of the Mediterranean and its long history of cross-cultural influences, and that makes the country totally unique on the international scene.”

Cultural and creative industries represent 4% of European GDP and employ over 1.7 million people in Europe. European brands account for 70% of the global luxury market and on average generate 62% of their sales through exports. In Italy the cultural and creative industries account for 4% of the national GDP, generating 50% of their sales through exports on average, and employing around 500,000 direct and indirect employees.
